Greetings to you our faithful prayer partner. We would like to begin this newsletter by just thanking you for partnering with us in Prayer; praying for us personally and for the ministry work we are doing. Thank you also for the opportunity to cover you in prayer. We would like to encourage you and help build your faith in your prayer life by reminding you of the following scripture which tells you just how powerful your prayers are;
James 5:16; Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Continuing in a spirit of encouragement, we want you to know that more important than keeping you up to date with our monthly ministry highlights, is to use these newsletters to minister to you in whichever way Holy Spirit leads us. So we will do this in each newsletter by either sharing a short testimony which we believe may apply to you, sharing a word of encouragement or sharing some teaching with you; all intended to edify you and the Body of Christ in general, just as the apostle Paul encouraged us to do in Ephesians 4:12.
So in this month’s addition of our newsletter we would like to share with you what God has laid on our hearts regarding the importance of Continuous Prayer and Worship.
Why is continuous prayer and worship important?
So this is a very important discipline…no, let me rather say relational state of being with our Creator which we are committed to as full time Prayer Missionaries; and which we are chasing after in our personal life. Why is it important though; and why for ALL of us as believers?
Well when it comes to continuous prayer, it is difficult to overlook 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 which says; ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ Well there you have it right, that’s evidence enough surely…the Word of God puts it straight forward, plain & simple; ‘Pray CONTINUALLY’. Not ‘pray sometimes’, ‘a lot’ or even ‘most of the time’; no, ‘Pray continually’, which means ‘All the time’. Well evidence enough for some yes, but for many the question of context as well as a necessity for cross validation needs to be factored in. Also where does the ‘continuous worship’ part of the topic come in right? So 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is a great starting point, but let’s continue our study…
Let us look at Jesus’ very own template for how we should pray and more specifically part of its content in Matthew 6:10…as part of what is affectionately known as The Lord’s Prayer, He prays; “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” I believe this phrase is a key to where to look for the importance of continuous prayer and worship; in fact also the key to discover how our offering & devotion to God should look in general. Jesus’ Words as the key are “your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. So if we are to look for God’s will, His will for the earth; where do we find it? We find it in heaven; the place in which we find Father God’s being in its totality. The place also surely, where we find prayer & worship to The Father on the throne in its most perfect and glorious eternal form. If so could we find then ‘God’s will on earth as it is in heaven’ for continuous prayer and worship and how or why it’s important? Yes, most certainly! Well what does scripture tell us about prayer & worship in heaven then? The Book of Revelations is full of it; let us read and see & hear…
Just to mention some of the description of the eternal prayer & worship of Heaven; in Revelations 4:6-11 we see the 4 living creators and 24 elders around The Throne of God ‘day and night never stopping’ (not ceasing) in offering their proclamations of prayer, worship & praise to Lord God Almighty. In Revelations 5:8 there is further detail, with Harps (Worship through Music) and Bowls of Incense (The Prayers of God’s people) being part of the heavenly expression of prayer & worship. These passages in the Book of Revelations conclusively prove to us that ‘God’s will on earth as it is in heaven’ for prayer & worship is that of a continuous / un-ceasing nature.
Furthermore, an incredible earthly enactment or model of this kind of continuous prayer & worship is that of The Tabernacle of David. David had the Ark of the Covenant placed in a tent and appointed 288 prophetic singers and 4000 musicians to minister before The Lord, ‘to make petition, to give thanks and to praise the Lord’ day and night (1 Chronicles 15:1 – 17:27). Just in case this may seem of little relevance to us; Amos 9:11 then prophecies that the House / Tabernacle of David would be re-built; Acts 15:16 makes reference to this as well; and 1 Peter 2:5 speaks of us being living stones of such a House.
We believe therefore that we are all called to be Living Stones of heavenly prayer & worship which is being built up to last eternally; each of us bringing our offering of continuous prayer & worship.
We want to encourage you that though some of us endeavour to pursue this as a vocation; unceasing prayer & worship is not just for those who intercede and / or sing full time at a local prayer room. This is a call to you personally, and to your families & friends personally; it is one which is way more a call to intimacy with God then what it is a ministry / mission call. It is a state of relational being between all of us individually and our creator who desires to connect with us deeply, continuously day & night. It is also much more of a glorious positioning of us in Christ, and Christ in us then what it is something to be obtained or achieved through our works & striving (Galatians 2:20)…And practically it is only something which can manifest through Christ’s Word being sent forth in an through us which He says He writes on our heart (Isaiah 55:11 & Hebrews 10:16); and through Holy Spirit reminding us to pray & worship, and in fact praying through us (Romans 8:26-27)!
We would like to encourage you to read through all the Scripture references above to help equip you on your unceasing prayer & worship journey with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Highlights of March for the Masson Family:
Harp and Bowl training; including Trinity
Jean-Michel co-presented the Harp & Bowl training for this year’s Joshua Year Students and others interested at the Witbank House of Prayer. It was special, practically showing those attending the training how one can use this powerful model (based on Revelations 5:8) to sustain intercession & worship for the duration of full 2 hour sets in the prayer room. It’s always so fulfilling for us to be part of building Godly confidence in people as they use what God has put inside of them; watching the transformation over the 3 day period, from initially learning in theory to then actually practically applying themselves on stage as they engaged in Intercessory Worship through releasing God’s Word in Prayer & Song. What was extra special is that our daughter Trinity who is now only 10 years old also participated in the training.
Jean-Michel went along to this full week inner healing course/camp as an intercessor; having the honour of intensively praying & waring in The Spirit for the attendees. Being witness to God’s mighty deliverance and surgical-like healing in the hearts of everyone there was truly a powerful experience and a great privilege! The week was a special reminder that Jesus truly forgives all; and His blood makes all things new.
Trinity did her first Devotional Set in the prayer room; a whopping 1 and a half hours on keyboard and vocals…One can imagine how long this is for a 10 year old…Though we knew her potential and the great gift God had placed inside of her; we were truly blown away by her depth and spiritual maturity as she helped set the atmosphere in the room through dialoguing God’s Word in song.
We made special memories as a family in March as we celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary, Trinity’s 10th birthday and Jean-Claude’s 6th ,we are truly blessed; pressed down, shaken together, running over!
Jean-Michel started attending a Course/Subject presented by the International House of Prayer, and made available to us here at WHOP called ‘Foundations of Intimacy’. It is exciting to grow through this course in the knowledge of God & His Transcendent Beauty; developing a deeper and deeper intimacy with Him…As we develop a true Passion for Jesus, ‘It takes God to love God’.
